We have been having a lot of rain and that is stopping glass. By the time it dries out in the morning the next wave is coming in.
We have put up the mast
The main problem was the existing stays are all too short. The mast step tower is about 12″ higher and the fore and aft position is different so nothing matched.
The shrouds were fairly straight forward with toggles and 12″ lengths of cable added ( this is average some were shorter a couple longer.)
We worked on the Turnbuckles and freed up all but 3. The 2 lower shrouds and the upper shroud. These are being replaced. Can’t get the same brand and model so.
The Forestay was a 1/4″ 1 x 19 with long pressed swaged ends. This was to accept the original Famet Furling gear , which is also not there. We have extended it for now with a 18″ length of ss chain . The backstay is 3/16″ and had a extension put on it.
Stepping the mast. It has a hinged base and we put it in place sticking out over the bow. We made a bridle with a ring that centered on the pivot point. It was set up between the front and rear pivot pin on the OR. Nest we hoisted a rope bridle with the staysail halyard and tied the bridle to the ring on each side. We made a short strut which set on the mast at the base and ran the main halyard over it and tied a bridle on it to the same ring. We fit a block on the stern using a rudder fitting and ran the winch cable back and attached to the halyard. Shrouds were attached but slack. Crank the winch and up goes the mast
We will be doing some glass as weather permits, putting in the coaming panels, glassing under the mast step and the step panels in. All that will be foamed.
