Trikini 23 OCTOBER 18 2003

The rainy season is over and fall is here. Got down to 64 for the first time since last April and no rain for over 2 weeks.

Work on the main hull was continuing and the Port side was finished up and painted , the trailer moved over and the hull rotated the other way so we could work on the Starboard side.

The same procedure was used, and when done the hull was leveled and recentered on the trailer note the boot line for the bottom was also done.

The trailer had the supports repadded, some rusty U bolts replaced, the bow stop raised to match the eye pad and the wod and pads on the bow cradles replaced

Meanwhile we got the fwd 10 ft of OR deck installed , the pad eye moved andshaped up the rear deck sections with the rear CA pivot. Those panels were glassed into place and the deck installed.

We had two situations occur. When we went to get a few quarts of the polyurethane paint the brand and type was gone from the shelf. The manager said no longer made. Called the manufacturer and he said was made and he had a warehouse full but that supplier contracts would not allow direct sales. Went to the company that owned the brand and they said could special order and gave a direct sales contact. They gave me the same out of production and then said they could supply for twice the price previously paid plus freight. Not good. Went to the retail outlet of the main company and he said could order no prblem and quoted half the price of the other source and no freight. Ordered it and 5 days later it showed up and went in and while the number was right it did not say polyurethane. Back to contact at manufacturer and after another go around turns out they just repacaged and some how the polyurethane is left off the label but am assured the product is the same. We’ll see in 6 months or a year. Smells the same, applies the same.

Item two was in redoing the attachment areas for the CA’s we needed 7″ bolts. Well they have dissappeared. Everyone has 6″ but not 7″ After a lot of calling and chasing we found a source and bought 25 at $2 each. Don’t need that many but that was the minimum. We also found some wild prices. For instance on firm listed 6″ at 84 cents and 8 ” at $8

The main hull has been put to one side for now while we work on the OR’s. With a little luck may be ready to start a reassembly by the end of the month.

We think the series of photos and drawings tells the story.
