Sunday we went back out on Pirate Girl. After again sailing through the morning to early afternoon we went and anchored out at Bird Island. Steve and I took the surf kayaks out on the ocean side and surfed for a while 🙂 what a blast.. I had almost forgotten what fun it is.. lol or how out of shape I am.
Hans who was out on Runaway and over at bird Island also told me that one of the torpedo looking floats/tanks/? had been seen on the marsh on the waterway… I talked steve into going back to my boat after we got back to the marina to go out and salvage it.. 🙂 we took and motored down just past Crab Catchers on the Inland Waterway and anchored in about 4 ft of water and then waded through mud up to our knees to get to the bank.. the float was up in the marsh grass about 50 or 60 feet from the waterway but it was light enough that Steve and I could slowly/barely roll it over the marsh grass and into the water where it foated. I wish I had pictures of us doing it … what a hoot.
While we were in the marsh of of the normal idiots with more money than knowledge or brains blew by in a 45 to 50 ft power boat.. they threw such a big wake that it lifted Sea Puppy up and over into shallower water and grounded her.. Luckly the mud is deep and soft so no damage seems to have been done. we got the float out and tied up on her starboard side with the fenders between it and her. Then we started kedging her out into the channel… it wasn’t going fast but soon another idiot came by and I started the engine quick and was able to ride his wake into deeper water when it lifted us off the bottom. More excitement in one day than I usually like in a year 🙂
I must say we got lots of looks. It was dusk and we were motoring back to the marina past othe boats and a couple restraunts with decks over the water..I haven’t measured it yet but I estimate that the floaty thing is about 2.5 ft in diameter and about 20 feet long. It must of looked like we had a torpedo as big as the boat tied to us. Steve also had to remind me that only I could get drag him into weird stuff like crawling into the marsh to get weird stuff that I have no use for 🙂
Before we left the dock to get it the guy that recovered a identical one a week or so before talked to em and gave me the one he has.. I had seen that he got it the day he recovered it.. I had gone out to get it myself from where it was floating in the waterway but he had taken it before i got back out there. Yesterday was the first day I had seen him since then and when I told him I was going o get this one and that I had tried to get the first one. He told me that he just pulled it out to get it out of the waterway and that I could have it if I wanted.. So now I have two of them…
Here is some pictures of it.

Tomorrow Breck is going to help me get them on my trailer and I will bring them home 🙂 Maybe we will use them as pontoons for a floating party deck 🙂
Thursday Breck helped me drag the one the guy gave me up on my trailor and I took it home.
