Waking up to the lapping of water on the hull before sunrise is an unbeatable combination. I sleepily got up and started hot water to boiling for tea and hot chocolate and then took my camera up on deck and took some pictures of the sunrise…. truly gorgeous..
After sitting in the cockpit and watching the sun come up while sipping on a cup of hot chocolate we got moving and put the jib and mainsail on the roller furler and boom respectively.
Then it was time to get going.. I told Miriam what needed to be done to sail off the anchor and then raised the main and started tacking up the anchor line with mirriam pulling it up into the anchor locker. We actually gained an audience as some of the people on the bigger power boats that had been anchored a hundered yards away or so watched us do this.. 🙂 The anchor came up smoothly and we fell off and headed for the mouth of the inlet. As soon as Miriam was off the foredeck I let out the jib and we were under full sail.
First we headed down the coast for 3 or 4 miles then I decided to go out to the Sherman a local wreck about 7 miles off shore.
What a nice day for sailing.
It was actually a very comfortable low 70’s for most of the morning with 10 to 12 knots of wind all day.. It did heat up later in the afternoon on our way back from the Sherman.
I trolled a fishing line behind the boat for most of the day but didn’t catch anything.. more like lost two whole sets of lures 🙂 oh well fish 2 scott 0.
later that after noon around 3 or 4 as we ere headed back to the dock we saw Patty and Jeff on Pirate Girl and got a couple good pictures of them.
